Aha! I return to the blogging world once again to set the record straight on these past few weeks. November has brought with it most welcome good times, for I have been a busy little bee as of late. My truck plays music again! Oh, sweet melodies and resonance! Special thanks to dad on that one for sending new musical devices my way. My little travel companion is all fixed up now and a bonafide California vehicle with license plates and everything!! (pictures later-don't laugh. It's a big step for me) Somehow I snuck away from the DMV with my old Kentucky license plate in tow (yay!) and placed it in its final resting place on my window sill where it receives my longing glances every once in a while. All I can say is I'm glad that's out of the way. California vehicle registration is a royal pain in the rear- I went to the smog place on five different occasions before my truck and its check engine light finally cooperated.
In other news, I recently learned to drive the tractors on the farm so I've been workin the fields lately and I gotta say I love tractors. Love driving them, love working on them. Just love em. They're great. I think I'll use draft horses on my farm though. Just sayin'.
Yesterday I went mountain biking and rock climbing on Horse Mountain which is about 45 minutes east of here. Look to the east from the top and you see the trinity alps. Look to the west and you see the mighty Pacific. Beautiful. I'll post pictures. My buddy Nick and I biked down a closed forest service road, stashed our bikes, and then hiked to this big rock with brand new climbs that aren't even in guide books yet!! We also climbed to the top of some forest service tower and watched the sunset on the ocean. And then we got to soak our tired muscles in a hot tub for three hours. Anyway, it was pretty sweet. I'm definitely way into rock climbing. I'll be buying gear pretty soon when I get some money saved up. But that's a ways from now.
Ahh, it's difficult to recall everything I've been getting into. Lots of forestry parties and general ridiculousness. I've been having weird dreams (one about getting a liver transplant, one about terrifying forest monsters in which I am covering my ears, closing my eyes, and screaming at the top of my lungs so I can't hear the awful noises they make). There was a ghost in my room Thursday night. The cat meows like a crying child. Freaks me out every time.
This weekend I'm going on a cattle drive down in Bakersfield with Nick (his family has a 10,000 acre ranch!). 2 days, 25 miles, should be great. Cattle and horses. Campfires and cowboys. I can't wait.
I'm sitting here listening to Japancakes and it reminds me of the summer. I miss it. I miss my housemates and Wolf Creek and the park. But I miss home even more. I can't wait to come and visit for three weeks next month!! Christmas will be here before we know it. Crazy. Then it's 2008. Weird. Time goes so fast now.
Anyway, I skipped geology all last week and I'm thinking there's a test tomorrow but I'm not sure. So. I'm going to sign off here and perhaps I'll do a bit of studying but most likely I'm gonna just go to sleep listening to Japancakes and watching the visualizer on Itunes. Seriously. Watch the visualizer on Itunes. It's AMAZING. Full screen for the full effect.
Alrightio folks I'm outie. I'm doing swimmingly. Love you all.
Jess
